Omar Licandro is Research Professor at the Instituto de Análisis Económico
(CSIC) and Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona GSE, which he first joined in 2009. He is a Fellow of CEPR.He was Research Director of the Barcelona GSE 2010-2012, Associate Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid 1991-2000, Senior Researcher at FEDEA in Madrid from 1994-2001 and Professor at the European University Institute in Italy from 2001-2009. He has been Associate Editor of Annales d’Economie et de Statistique, Investigaciones Economicas and the Spanish Economic Review.
His main research field is Macroeconomics with special interest in Growth Theory. His main contributions are on vintage capital, embodied technical progress and the transition to modern growth. He has recently contributed to the literature on firm heterogeneity, in particular on the competitive role of trade.
He has published in the Journal of Economic Theory, Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Growth, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and Scandinavian Journal of Economics, among others.
He has supervised 20 PhD dissertations in the field of macroeconomics.
